According to the website of aviation weekly, Bombardier said its extended maintenance cycle of c-series narrow body aircraft reached "advanced level of the industry". The first aircraft in the series is preparing for certification and will be delivered to users in July 2014.
It is reported that OEM manufacturers have increased the period of small maintenance from 750 hours to 850 hours, and also increased the period of base maintenance - C inspection from 7500 hours to 8500 hours. These actions are based on the maintenance philosophy of MSG-3. Larger structural inspections will take place 12 years after delivery, with 2500 hours of flight per year.
"MSG-3 infers that Bombardier's maintenance cycle can exceed the initial estimate; based on our findings in the competition, we believe that these figures have reached the leading level in the industry," said Bill Molloy, director of customer service and technical support for c-series aircraft of Bombardier montellier customer service center. According to Molloy, Airbus A319, A320 and Boeing 737-700 are major competitors of c-series aircraft, with seats between 110-125 and CS300 between 135-160. Molloy points out that "design and system integration lead to the belief that less maintenance is required than before. There is also a newly designed fuselage. We have integrated the latest technology into some of the existing components that have been tested for a long time and have a low risk record. " C-series aircraft also use aluminum lithium alloy and improved protective layer. Composite materials are used in wing, fuselage, vertical and horizontal tail structures, which also improves the maintainability of the aircraft.
